Here we'll list events and activities scheduled
for the next couple of months.
We'll update this page frequently,
so check back often to stay up to date.

Hunterstown Historical Society meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month, unless otherwise stated.
We meet at the Great Conewago Presbyterian Chapel
on Red Bridge Road in Hunterstown.

FIRST Hunterstown Monument!

  The dedication of the new Hunterstown Monument
    depicting Norvell Churchill "saving" the life of
   Brigadier General George Armstrong Custer.
     The Churchill Family will be coming to
     Gettysburg / Hunterstown for this event
   and will be bringing the family sword with them!

                  July 2nd, 2008

         The Jacob Grass Hotel....
       Union Headquarters during
     The Battle of Hunterstown,
         Gettysburg Campaign
               July 2nd, 1863
     It was in this hotel that orders
    were given to Brigadiere General
        George Armstrong Custer
      to charge the Confederate line
          on Hunterstown Road.
      The Jacob Grass Hotel was also
        used as a hospital after the
     battle and recently received a
    hospital sign thanks to the folks
at Historic Gettysburg-Adams County.

The "Historic Jacob Grass Hotel" is owned by
Ron Myers, assistant manager at the Dobbin House.

9th Annual Custer Week!

The city of Monroe Michigan will once
again be hosting a week long
educational series of programs
celebrating General George A. Custer
and The Civil War. This grand event
will begin on Saturday, September 29th
and run through Sunday, October 7th.
The programs include a presentation by
Troy Harmon, of the National Parks
Service, entitled “Custer At Gettysburg”
on Saturday, the 29th, at the Monroe
Museum at 7:00 p.m.
